Photographs that could be chosen for final conclusion
Photographs Chosen For Exam
Evaluation of project
At the beginning of this project, I chose the theme of collection as I believed that I could come up with a variety of ideas that would represent the meaning of collections well. Throughout this project I have been able to look at different photographers work and see what they think collections means and use these to create my own unique work. During my understanding of collections I have created three unique photo shoots based off of the titles of ‘Thing Come Apart’, ‘Repetition of Objects’ and ‘Monochrome Collections’.
When starting up this project, I focused on the way in which my chosen photographers have laid out their work to create a piece which showed collections in a clear but creative way that had to be linked with its title. The first photo shoot I completed it was based upon mechanical parts and how they are similar in creating one piece. However this photo shoot was based around my three titles by using repetition to create shapes, things coming apart was if you knew what all the pieces made as whole and monochrome collections was about putting similar things together and then putting them into Photoshop to create a monochrome tone. To keep this theme seen in my other photo shoot I focused on how things that we use every day but do not see them as a collection but by using different titles and shapes to represent them, the audience is able to see them in a new way.
To experiment with my work, I put chosen photographs into Photoshop to create a new but similar image that added effect to the photograph but still related to the theme of collections. The area with the most experimentation was ‘monochrome collections’ as I had to change the tone of the image in a dark or light way and this was able to keep to the topic of collections without significantly changing the image. The resources I used was Photoshop once my photo shoots had been completed and being able to use different setting on my camera such as close ups which add effect to the image so the audience can see it from a different perspective. At the end of this project I wrote about how I had changed them and how I feel about this editing but sometimes I refined these by putting the edited image into Photoshop again to see how I can develop it further.
When recording my ideas, I have placed all of my images and opinions of my work onto my website: http://rebeccaspringallphotography.weebly.com/ . At the beginning of this project I gave an example of my chosen photographers work, how they have developed it, their message, my opinion of their work and what I am going to do to relate it to their work. This gives my audience an idea of where I wanted to go with my work and how I have chosen these photographers to design my own creations of the theme of collections. However once I had completed my edits and shown how I had developed them through Photoshop, I analysed my work explain what I have done and how I have changed the image to relate it to the title and the theme. With a little description at the end explain what could be improved about the image if I was to come back to it in the future.
At the end of this project I have shown as personal response on how I can improve my work in the future and what I think of my work currently, as well as a meaningful response on how I have developed my work and how it has turned out. But finally an informed response which allows the audience to see how my work has turned out and what I believe I have done to make it into a good project. To show my audience how I am justifying my work, I have used before, during and after images which show the process in which I was developing my work to create something that shows my understanding of the theme of collections. From the feedback I have been given I can see where I have developed my work currently and where I need to go next to improve my work and take it to the next level of showing the work I have created.
During this project I have connected well with the theme and I have used previous work to create pieces that show collections and myself as the photographer going deeper into my work to see what the outcome could be. My personal progression through this project has been continuous in how I have thought of new ideas regularly and created them to then be edited into Photoshop to design something creative and imaginative to the audience. In my final response of my work I have seen how I can use just the work of famous photographers and a simple title to create a piece of work that can be seen in a variety of ways but still relates back to how I as the photographer understand collections.
